The Japanese Northern Alps range is often called "the roof of Japan,” at an elevation of 1220m, “Yazawa water source” is one of the fine water sources in Japan. This is where the raw water of Shinano Yusui originates.
The water source is as deep in the mountains as needing climbing equipment to reach such terrain. Our deep desire to
provide the water to our customers led us to set up a pipeline connecting the water source to the factory we built near the source. Nothing surrounds the factory, which is essential, for it means there is nothing to contaminate the environment.
◀ Downstream of the factory is an area famous for its numerous “wasabi (Japanese horseradish)” fields.
Wasabi only grows well with abundant pure and clear water, and Shinano Yusui's raw water source is located upstream of the wasabi fields. Shinano Yusui is produced at Omachi factory in Nagano prefecture benefitted from the blessings of nature.
The Entrance to Tateyama Kurobe Alpen Route - Omachi
Omachi city in Nagano prefecture is next to Azumino city and Hakuba village with a population of 30,000. This region is known for being a base for exploring the Japanese Northern Alps and is the entrance to “Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route” with 3000m-high Northern Alps to the west, and 1000m-high mountains to the East. Every April, the Alpine Route is open to the public. Tourists from all over the world are captivated by impressive and massive walls of snow.
Even in midsummer, average temperature is only 15 degrees Celsius in the morning and evening, giving a relief from the heat also from hustle and bustle of the city. Autumn brings picturesque colors of autumn leaves that change from the top of the mountains to their feet. Winter welcomes snowfall of 0.5m to 1m around the factory. The Japanese serow and grouse, selected as special national natural treasures inhabit in this region and can sometimes be seen near Omachi factory. We will continue to protect this fabulous environment while providing Shinano Yusui to our customers.
The snow that falls on the Japanese Northern Alps, often called “the roof of Japan,” turns into abundant spring water which gushes out at the 1220m-high region that is the Shinano Yusui water source. Shinano Yusui factory is located in an unusual setting compared to average “factories” in view of the fact that there is nothing but pure wilderness all around the factory.
